O jedi master canadense Kid Koala está (finalmente!!!) com um novo álbum solo na pista, e daquele jeito que a gente gosta: fazendo suas brincadeiras espetaculares através de samples, scratches, colagens e muitos loops de blues e jazz pra acompanhar. “12 bit Blues” sai pelo selo Ninja Tune e traz doze faixas de um som intitulado ‘blues turntable‘, onde foram usados dezenas de discos e o clássico sampler E-mu SP-1200. Feito sem nenhum software, como nos velhos tempos. Foram três dias recortando e sequenciando (ao vivo e sem cortes) os samples, depois adicionando as colagens e scratches em um gravador multitrack. Simples, né? Vai vendo! O resultado é espetacular! Mais uma obra-prima desse gêniozinho dos toca-discos que aparece pouco, mas quando aparece é pra abalar a casa.

The Canadian jedi master Kid Koala has (finally!) a new solo album on the dancefloor! And in the way we like it: playing spectacularly through samples, scratches, collages and many loops of blues and jazz to follow. “12 bit Blues” has the Ninja Tune label and features twelve “blues turntable” soundtracks, in which dozen of records and the classic sampler E-mu SP-1200 were used. Made with no help from a software, like in the old days. Three days cutting and sequencing (live and uncut) the samples and then adding the collages and scratches in a multitrack recorder. Simple, right? Check it out! The result is astonishing! Another masterpiece from this little genius of the record players who doesn’t show up much, but when he does he shakes the house.
