Mike Paradinas é um talento já maturado no caldo de ritmos tortos e bem curtido no prestígio do underground musical, mas evitaremos utilizar veterano para definir seu lugar nessa fauna, pois esta é outra palavra de de uso indevido quando o assunto é música do gênero eletrônico dançante. Já que esta não mais pode ser considerada aquela promissora e jovial donzela que já foi há algumas décadas, ela agora já lista em suas fileiras alguns milheiros de heróis, vilões, bufões, ladrões, além de toneladas de virtudes, platitudes e vicissitudes. Ou seja, já está pau a pau com outros gêneros da música popular do século XX da qual esperamos mais que menos do mesmo.

E, para ser honesto, neste segundo álbum do projeto Heterotic que ele encabeça com sua esposa, ele não rompeu barreiras rítmicas ou transcendeu limites harmônicos imaginários para atingir novos espaços sonoros como nos iconoclastas que o fizeram célebre como µ-Ziq e construíram  reputação de seu selo Planet Mu.

“Weird Drift” faz jus ao nome, é uma guinada esquisita, mesmo porque não se sabe ao certo para onde. Por vezes ele resvala num Techno bem estruturado por pads delicados e remete ao começo deste século e algumas sonoridades até mais vintage, por outras, toca em ideias mais reconhecidamente contemporâneas, ainda que sempre conferindo sua personalidade bem singular a cada uma das abordagens. Os vocais de Vezelay merecem uma menção à parte, mesmo que se somem com elegância e precisão a cada dos belos construtos que formam este belíssimo álbum.

Mike Paradinas is a talent already mature in the warped beats scene and with a great prestige in the Brazilian underground, but we wont use veteran to defined its place in this fauna, because this is another word often used the wrong way when the subject is eletronic dance music.The genre cannot be consider a brand new born how it was a few decades a go. now it lists its own heroes, villains, besides tons of virtues… its has already catch up to the other musical genres from the  XX  century.

And to be honest, in this second album of the project Heterotic, that he’s leading together with his wife, he didn’t break ANY rhythm barriers or transcendent imaginary harmonic limits to reach  new sound spaces as the  iconoclastas that done the celebrated µ-Ziq and build the reputation of their label Planet Mu.

“Weird Drift”  live up to its name, it’s a weird twist even though is not know where it goes. Sometimes he slips a Techno well structured by delicate pads and refers to the beginning of this century and some even more vintage sound, in other moments he touches more contemporary  recognizable ideas, but always giving a very unique personality to each approach. The Vezelay vocals deserve a mention apart even if it adds with elegance and precision to the beautiful constructs that makes up this beautiful album.
